Last year I bought a shirt (see it above where I’m modeling it in front of a Pucci design) that set me off into a new fashion direction: the world of prints. At about the same time, I discovered Emilio Pucci, the Prince of Prints in the fashion world. His story is inspiring, check it out at the link below, and his influence now, 60 years later, is as strong as ever.
I feel so good wearing clothes with beautiful patterns. Pucci was an artist whose designs accentuated the female body’s natural curves. Wear one and it will make you feel ultra feminine. Of course, I don’t have a real Pucci yet~ they are too expensive for this thrift-store shopper~ but the day is coming when I will, and I’m looking forward to it!

If asked to write about the process, I would have to say it started with a feeling of non-interest, and a sort of “I have no ideas” kind of thinking. So I went back to the written assignment and re-read it. Still no inspiration. So I clicked on some of the links given to jump-start our creative juices. Getting warmer… this is interesting…I kept scrolling down…
Then suddenly, I saw it. The paper cut-out that would grab my heart and speak to me!
Those little black paper people are just amazing. My scissors took over, and in less than a minute my little Balloon Dancer was born and showing me where she wanted to dance.
She came up right away, and I recognized her instantly. Where have you been all these years, I asked ever so lovingly. She danced away laughing 🙂
I couldn’t stop photographing her, and she was determined not to let me.
We started on the kitchen utensils…
Then we moved on to the window where she got the idea she could fly…Oops! Better hold on to those balloons, dearie.
Next she took me on a desert mountain…
When I thought for sure she was ready to take a break, we ran back into the kitchen for one last shot before she let the last balloon go and laid down for a rest. What a day we had, and it all happened in less than an hour!
About the PROCESS.
And I repeat once again~”Design is ABOUT the PROCESS, and it can only come from yourself.”
“Observation is one of the main skills of a designer. To observe is already to design.”
The challenge is a daily 1-hour project (Monday-Friday). To be honest, I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed, and still haven’t gotten into the ‘groove’ of it, homework-wise. Thank God at least we have the weekends to catch up. I’m way behind, but I’m very inspired, so that’s one good thing.
If you are interested in having a lot of fun, and designing your brains out, there is still time to jump in!
There are 1000s of blogs and vlogs and media channels out there screaming to get your attention everyday, everywhere you turn. Hard to know who to look at, or what to read ~ Yes?
But every now and then something comes along that catches your eye AND your heart, and satisfies all your longing for beauty, Art, and creativity, showing you MODERN ART you’ve never ever seen or even heard of ~ by people that don’t look very different from you or me!
You find you can’t help coming back day after day, week after week~ WHY? Because it’s just such a PLEASURE 🙂
I’m making a NEW START with ART, and my favorite new place to find it is at My Modern Met.
Here are a few samples to get you started: These street artists, Ella & Pitr are from France….Grab your camera and capture the moment!
It’s not just WHAT you cook~ What you cook IN matters too.
I know cooking in aluminum pans isn’t good because the aluminum leeches into the foods. And I store food in glass rather than plastic when I can.
But last week I made a discovery I NEVER heard about before, and I found it at the thrift store!
I saw it sitting amongst the clutter of kitchen items, and did a double take~ What’s that? Upon closer examination, I realized I was looking at exactly what I had said I wanted only the day before~ something to cook a chicken in, big enough to hold some potatoes and carrots and apples and onions, and that has a cover. I grabbed it, determined to search online when I got home about how to use it, and what it was actually made for. I knew that as it said made in Germany on the bottom, it must be GOOD.
I was right! The one I have is made by Romertopf, and will hold a 3-4 lb chicken with all the trimmings. The lady at the thrift store told me you have to soak it in water for 15 minutes before using, and the porous nature of the terra cotta clay makes the food so much more succulent. Reading up a bit, I also discovered that the clay is also alkaline, and that makes a difference in the taste of the food as well. I’m sold (and I haven’t even used it yet).
Today’s the day. We’ll be eating clay-baked chicken when Jean gets home from work today. (I’m enjoying being a stay-at-home wife these days).
Hello everyone~ Have you been meeting any interesting people lately? Everyone has an interesting story to tell!
Jean and I were grocery shopping tonight and a woman behind us at the register commented on how refreshing it was to hear English being spoken. I have a loud voice, and it really does draw attention over here. She was so bright and her English was also refreshing for me to hear, so I ran back to give her my card after we’d left.
When she saw it, she said, “Oh! It’s you!” “Me? Wait, what do you mean?” “You met my daughter a month or so ago and took her picture. She was wearing a scarf that she told you her mother made, and you said you liked it.” “Is your daughter a student?” “Yes.” “Is she studying physio-therapy?” “Yes!” “And was the scarf a circle kind, all one piece?” “YES!” “Wow, of course, I remember her! We met at the bus-stop outside the train station.
I don’t know if I ever actually posted her picture on my blog, but I will now.
