MAKE-UP ~ A little Goes a LONG Way!

Make-up! Where would we be without it?  I never wore much, and I wear even less now. It seems the older I get, the less I need. COOL! Anyway, I look in the mirror in the morning, and get depressed. Then, I put on my magic, and feel like I just got a new lease on life. It takes about 10 seconds, and ALWAYS works.
Here’s my simple but effective regimen: a touch of Blush & Eyebrow pencil.

Since living in Korea, I can’t NOT do my eyebrows. I don’t pluck them. I just give them a boost of color and definition with my brown or dark brown pencil. All the ladies my age in Korea do it. Unless they’re out in the rice fields. It looks sooooo nice, and it’s sooooo simple.

About lipstick: I only wear it on occasion (when I’m teaching, for example; or when I want to really look GOOD)  I know I look better with a little color and shine on my lips, but I can’t stop thinking that’s it’s like putting poison on my mouth. It’s only a few minutes before I’ve licked it off, and that stuff aint good for ya! I found this recipe online just now, but haven’t tried making it yet. Let me know if you get to it before I do! http://wellnessmama.com/5830/homemade-natural-lipstick-recipe/

BODY BRUSHING

Image

I was first introduced to the benefits and joys of body brushing while visiting a friend once in Japan.
She showed me a vegetable brush she had in her bathroom and I tried it. TINGLY~ wow! I was hooked. I bought a few before I left (they’re really meant to scrub vegetables) and take them virtually everywhere I go.

The more common version shown here works just as well. I brush dry BEFORE getting into the shower in the morning. It gets the circulation going and does most of the cleaning before you even get wet. For more information about dry body brushing, check out the following links:

You Can’t Leave the House Barefoot!

ImageImageImage

These shoes were made for walkin’

and that’s just what they’ll do…”

I can’t wear heels anymore. Maybe it’s the age, or maybe the extra weight…dunno. But, whatever the reason, my feet are only happy anymore when I’m in flats. And I love them! The highest heel I can safely wear is 1 1/2 inch. But my preference is a flat with a pointed toe. I have a goldish colored pair I picked up in Costa Rica for $10. When I slip them on I feel slim, light, and beautiful. The clunkier the shoe, the heavier I feel. So, I’m always on the lookout for a stream-lined flat. I notice H&M have MANY this year. They’re all the rage. However, very few of them have pointed toes (and honestly I just hate the round toe on me) and almost NONE of them are in a narrow. (AAAA width can be a bummer sometimes) sigh.

BLACK & WHITE

Most people would agree that black and white are beautiful. Mix them together and your eyes just can’t get enough. Today I met Lili. She was wearing white, and I was wearing black. It was a photo-op I couldn’t pass up. You’ll see more of her soon, I hope!

The CADILLAC of BRAS

Bra 2

Image

2013 was the year I realized that if you’re going to wear a bra, it should at least fit. I wanted to get measured by a professional, but had a hard time finding one. Many women do like me and keep buying the same size over the years. Even though their body shape keeps changing, their bra size stays the same.

After several poor attempts by harried and hurried salesgirls, I finally did what any woman these days with a computer ought to do~ I googled it. From the comfort of my boudoir, I finally discovered the truth ~ and even how to convert it from inches to centimeters. ( http://www.berlei.com.au/bra-size-calculator)

Excited? Yes. Shocked? Uh-huh.

Needless to say, the tape measure wasn’t lying. I grabbed my girlfriend and we went to the MALL. A miracle happened, and I’m wearing it right now. I found the Cadillac of bras, and it fits me like a glove. Some say ignorance is bliss, but not when it comes to your foundations.

Junk Jewelry!

  Image

The thing about junk jewelry is that it looks great, and costs next to nothing. I don’t mind spending my money on something else more important. Here are two of my favorite earring/necklace sets. However, as is often the case, they didn’t come as sets. The string of wooden beads (bought in Itaewon, Seoul, from my favorite street vendor) needed matching earrings. My jewelry making friend, Kristina, took some of the beads from the necklace and made earrings for me. I love them and wear them almost every day. I love the natural look of wood, and they go with everything. The silver necklace was on sale here in Belgium for 3Euros. I bought 2 of them, and took one apart to make earrings. Yay! Amazing what a little practice and a pair of needle-nose pliers can do.
